One Room Challenge-Week 3 One Rug Challenge Apparently

Hello friends!

I’ve made it to week 3 of the ORC and wondering how I’m going to make it to the end of this thing?!  LOL!  I have been having fun thrifting for accessories and this past week I scored big on artwork for our little laundry room that could!  But more on that later, because I’ve been having big trouble with landing a rug for this space.  The one that I had my heart eyes on first didn’t come in the size I needed, but I figured I could make it work, then my order was cancelled because it ended up not in stock.  I guess these things happen for a reason though, so I’ll keep on with the hunt.  It would be fun if this deadline wasn’t looming ahead of me, haha!

Anyway, this past weekend we managed to pick up our cabinets and not much else-eek!  We’re really going to have to step up our game this weekend and get the grouting finished and the cabinets installed and hopefully the forms made for the concrete countertops.  As for the cabinets, my super thrifty husband wanted to save on delivery charges so we were able to get 5 base cabinets home in one trip, with me white knuckled all the way home.  I’ve never seen cars stay so far behind my car though, so that was a bit funny!

Anyway I was super happy to score original lithographs from the Science Exhibit from the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair at my Goodwill for $20!  There are a lot of great Mid-Century designs with the colors I’m hoping to accent the room with, so I’ll be creating a little gallery wall with these darlings included!  And there can’t be a room in house that doesn’t give a nod to the era of our lovely home!

Here’s my handy dandy checklist so far: (Yeah, nothing new is checked off but I do love the added extra layer of suspense this adds.  Will I finish in time?  Check in next week to find out how we’ve done with our plans this weekend!)

Room Plans:

    1. Level and tile the floor with Metro Glacier Tile.  It’s a creamy white with gray undertones. ✔
    2. Install  simple white cabinetry, with matte black hardware pulls.
    3. DIY gray concrete countertops
    4. Find new rug
    5. Install open shelving
    6. Lotta Jansdotter Hemma Emmi Grass fabric will be used somewhere in the room because I love it
